Sensational music producer Seyifunmi Michael has revealed that his sound has changed over the years, but that he has continued to keep the flag flying as a producer.

Seyifunmi’s journey into professional music production marked the beginning of a transformative adventure, reshaping his approach to music and opening doors to new opportunities.

With the success of his inaugural album project, Seyifunmi found himself overwhelmed with requests from other artists, propelling him into collaborations with industry heavyweights like Simi and Davido.

Embracing roles as a composer, arranger, and music director, he delved into new realms of musical expression, further solidifying his reputation as a versatile and sought-after talent.

As he reflected on his evolution as a producer, Seyifunmi acknowledged the two distinct phases of his career: the music producer and the music director. While his early work was deeply rooted in the organic sounds of traditional Nigerian music, Seyifunmi’s artistic journey has led him to embrace a more eclectic approach, incorporating elements of pop music while staying true to his core strengths.

“Deeply rooted into talking drums and things like Alujo production. Think about the ‘Woju’ era, the ‘Orente’ era, the ‘Uyo Meyo’ era and those kinds of sounds,” he explains.

“The sound has changed while keeping my essence. If you compare my most recent release “Look what you made me do” by Simi and Adekunle Gold to some of my earliest work like “My Life,” you’ll hear the growth and evolution in the sound.”

Indeed, his recent collaborations with artists like Simi and Adekunle Gold showcase a new nature of sound, characterised by a blend of traditional influences and contemporary pop. This evolution in sound reflects his ongoing commitment to innovation and artistic exploration, as he continues to push the boundaries of his craft while staying true to his musical roots.
