ABUJA – The Yoruba Council Worldwide, under the leadership of Aare Oladotun Hassan, has announced its plans to hold the 6th Annual World Omoluabi Festival, a cultural and fashion extravaganza, at the historic Ooni’s palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Scheduled for April 28, 2024, the prestigious event will commence at 2pm, showcasing the rich Yoruba heritage and values, with the aim of strengthening communal bonds and promoting national unity.
According to a statement by Alukoro Prince Ajibola Aderemi, the Publicity Secretary of the Yoruba Council Worldwide, the festival is not only a celebration but also a competition with lucrative prizes.
“The winners of the event will be rewarded handsomely,” he emphasized.
The grand prize for the first place winner is set at N1,000,000, along with a crown, a certificate, an ambassadorial deal, among other rewards. The first runner-up will receive N500,000 and additional incentives, while the second and third runners-up will not be left out as they are to obtain N300,000 and N100,000 respectively, alongside ambassadorial deals and gifts.
“The 6th edition of the Annual World Omoluabi Festival is the largest, most significant cultural festival in Yorubaland, aimed at cross-fertilizing ideas on various issues of mutual importance and national interests,” Aderemi explained.
The festival’s theme revolves around the Omoluabi ethos—a term embodying the ideal Yoruba person who is responsible, respectful, and committed to community and national development.
The Council is confident that the event will be a momentous occasion, fostering unity, peace, and justice throughout Nigeria.
“The festival will be a melting pot for ideas that propel our cultural heritage and promote our unified vision for Nigeria,” Aderemi stated.
In addition to the cultural celebration, the festival will feature the Ewa Omidan & Ogbeni Omoluabi Fashion Show and Beauty Pageant, alongside the Omoluabi Royal Icon (ORI) Awards, recognizing individuals who embody the spirit of Omoluabi in their endeavors.
The Yoruba Council Worldwide is also extending an invitation to companies and private individuals to partner with them for the successful hosting of this grand event.
“This partnership is an exceptional opportunity for brands to connect with a global audience and to leverage the festival’s platform for marketing, thereby aligning with our vision of promoting corporate goals and cultural values,” he added.
