Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has commended the maturity and magnanimity of the Federal Government and labour in bringing the logjam over removal of fuel subsidy to a peaceful end.
In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Alhaji Abdulwahaab Oba, the governor also applauded the resilience and perseve-rance of the Nigeria people while the strike and negotiation lasted.
He said: “We have indeed learnt enduring legacies of tolerance and exchange of ideas that will definitely metamorphose into growing Nigerian economy and a stable democratic ethos.”
While Governor Ahmed regrets the unfortunate loss of life of a promising young man, Muyideen Mustapha and prays God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss, he, however, commended labour, students and other stakeholders in the state for their understanding and maturity displayed during the strike.
He also saluted security agencies for the maintenance good of civil-military relationship during the crisis.
The governor assured the people of his unflinching determination to channel the state’s resources towards improving their standard of living by reinvesting in productive sector of the state’s economy and enhancing human capital development.
