…vows to make Kogi unsafe for criminals

KOGI State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has confirmed the rescue of 43 bus passengers who were previously abducted by criminal elements.

The successful operation, which took place in Okehi Local Government Area, was met with widespread commendation and relief.

Speaking on the matter, Governor Ododo expressed his profound gratitude to the security agencies for their swift action, underscoring the significance of their achievement.

“I am exceedingly proud of our security forces for ensuring the safe return of the abducted passengers. This is a clear message to the perpetrators of crime that Kogi State will tolerate no such actions,” the Governor stated.

The Governor’s remarks came shortly after the passengers’ release, which was the result of a combined effort by multiple security agencies.

The Governor hailed the collaborative work of the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Professional Hunters, Ebira Local Hunters Group, and others, emphasizing the importance of continued partnership.

“The synergy between the security agencies and local communities is crucial. It enhances our intelligence-gathering capabilities, which is vital in preventing crime and ensuring the safety of our citizens,” Governor Ododo added, calling for sustained cooperation.

The rescue operation was not the only recent action taken against criminality in the state.

Governor Ododo also commended the response to a robbery incident in the Felele area of Lokoja, the state capital. He stressed the need for security agencies to address any form of insecurity with the utmost urgency.

In a show of support for the local government’s efforts, Governor Ododo commended the caretaker chairman of Okehi Local Government Area, Mr Amoka Eneji, for his role in the intervention.

“Mr Eneji’s leadership and the bravery of our security personnel have been instrumental in this operation,” said Governor Ododo.

As the state breathes a sigh of relief for the passengers’ safe return, Governor Ododo reassured residents that his administration is unwavering in its commitment to security.

“We will continue to deploy maximum resources to ensure that Kogi State is a hostile environment for any criminal elements,” he affirmed.
