Rivers state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has joined millions of others across the world to mourn the death of the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Access Bank, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, who was laid to rest alongside his wife, Chizoba and son, Chizzy in Isiokpo, Ikwerre local government area of the state on Saturday.

The party described the death of the business giant as a colossal loss to humanity. Addressing newsmen shortly after a church funeral service at the Lion of Judah parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Isiokpo, Parish weekend, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of APC in the state, Chief Tony Okocha, described the demise of the Wigwes as “one death too many”.

Okocha noted that the death of Wigwe was debilitating and perplexing, praying God to grant those he left behind the fortitude to bear the loss.

“I can recall a quote from Shakespeare which says death is a necessary end that must come when it must come and of course is the sad reality of human beings. But this particular one is one death too many. Am still grappling with it. Am still struggling to find the answers to this kind of thing that has happened.

“It is so dastardly, so debilitating, I don’t know what other adjective to qualify what has happened here. You can see three corpses lying there: the man, his wife and the son in a manner that nobody would have even imagined. But again we give God glory because He said whatever happens, whether bad or good, we should give Him glory. This is very painful I must tell you.”

Speaking about Wigwe university founded by the late business tycoon and financial expert, Okacha said, “You see his legacy project, among all his business concerns, the only one that seems to bear his name is the university and for this he personally went to television to advertise the school and all contained therein, saying it is going to be the bride of the continent. But in a split second all of that seems to have gone.

“I don’t know who else carries the kind of vision he carries for that school, although the Vice Chancellor yesterday while we were doing the service of songs assured us that these legacies would be sustained. You don’t have the dream, the man that has the dream is gone. So what you can do is try to see whether you can relocate what you think the man has in mind”, Okocha said.
