Nigerian scholar, Abdul Ghani Isa Oyarekhua promoted professor in Saudi varsity

*Amanatullah Legacy Foundation hails promotion

A Nigerian scholar and author of 50 books in Arabic language and Islamic sciences,Abdul Ghani Isa Oyarekhua,has emerged Africa’s first Professor of Linguistics at the Islamic University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia.

Professor Abdulgani Isa Oyarekhua’s promotion to the prestigious position of Professor of Arabic Linguistics at the Faculty of Arabic Language and Humanities of the institution makes him the first African to attain such an honour at the Islamic University of Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Edo State born Islamic scholar has 50 books in Arabic language and Islamic sciences translated between Arabic and English languages, and over 50 workshops and training courses attended globally.

Reacting to the development through a congratulatory message to the scholar, the leadership of Amanatullah Legacy Foundation,ALEF, which is his alma mater,said.


Oyarekhua’s “resilience, commitment to knowledge acquisition and dissemination, and passion for scholarly development exemplify the values instilled in us in Afikpo.”

In the message signed by Barr. Umar Musa Ikhilor,Executive Director, ALEF,Oyarekhua was described as “a product of the esteemed Sheikh Amanatullah, in whose honour the Amanatullah Legacy Foundation was established.”
