ADO-EKITI – A socio-cultural  group operating under the umbrella of “Ekiti E-40” has expressed  its concern over the inability of the Federal Government to make public  findings of  the Gen. Abdulahi Murkhtar (rtd) led-administrative panel on the N250 million bribery allegation levelled at some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission  (INEC) during the April 25 gubernatorial re-run election in Ekiti State.

The President Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’Adua had shortly after the election set up an administrative panel of enquiry to investigate the alleged bribery, violence and massive rigging that characterized the  re-run election which has returned the incumbent Governor, Mr. Segun Oni to office.

According to the  statement made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti  yesterday by the group’s executive Secretary, Mr. Olu Famodimu, said the development has become a challenge to the much vaunted rule of law and due process mantra of the Umaru Yar’Adua administration.

“We indeed like other patriotic Nigerians, call for the immediate release and implementation of the report to pave way for peace, justice and good governance in Ekiti State ,” the group demanded.

The group observed that the President may have  retreated from his initial determination to resolve the issue once and for all, noting that the panel had completed its two week assignment during which earth-shaking revelations were made and mind-boggling corruptions also uncovered.

“It is unimaginable to think that such weighty issue as the N250million bribe allegedly offered by PDP and confirmed by INEC Chairman, Prof. Maurice Iwu could be treated with utter frivolity’’, the group said.
