Grammy-nominated singer, Asake has released the visuals of his hit tune ‘Only Me’.  

The visuals was created by ace producer, TG Omori.

In the video, Asake portrays a flamboyant priest dressed in a white and gold cloak, leading a procession evocative of legendary Nollywood occult scenes.

He also takes ownership of a vault, flaunting his wealth and maintaining his place as first among equals.

The video was released after Zlatan’s “Bust Down,” as Asake continued his string of hits.

In April 2024, the ‘Lonely at the top’ crooner is scheduled to perform in the 19,000-seat Scotia Bank Arena.

Asake, whose real name is Ahmed Ololade, rose to fame in 2020 after releasing his popular song “Lady.”

He became a member of the YBNL label in February 2022.

Asake disclosed that he sings primarily in Yoruba because music has no language boundaries.

He has been multiple awards in credit to his musical prowess and exploits.

He was among the nominees for the 2023 Grammy award in the Best African Music Performance category for his hit song “Amapiano,” which he co-wrote with rapper Olamide.

Asake won the prize for music at the 2023 Future Awards in 2023.

As of 2022, no one really knew the singer even though he has been doing music for long before that. By 2023, the singer was on top of the world, and would be hard not to reckon him as one of the top 10 by the close of the year

His biggest break came when his friend, Yhemolee introduced him to Olamide, but neither Olamide nor Yhemolee could have fathomed they had a superstar on their hands.

His numbers by the start of 2023 were of fairytale stuff. On January 19, 2023 Asake earned himself seven nominations at the Soundcity MVP Awards. By February 1th, he breezed into 250 million career streams on Spotify. This, must have contributed to his winning Best Male Award at the Soundcity Awards.

His incredible streak continued through the year as he bagged Best African Artist of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards on May 8, 2023. His momentum by this time was unstoppable as he had a stellar June, winning back to back accolades and Awards. On June 3rd, he bagged six nominations at the Global Music Awards. On June 8th, he also got nominated for “Best New International Act” at the BET Awards.

On June 17th, his work of art peaked on the No 1 spot on UK Apple Music Albums chart, making it his second project to reach No 1 on the chart. By June 26th, he debuted on No 4 spot on Billboard World Album chart. By July 25th, Asake had joined Burna Boy and Seyi Vibez as the only African artists with more than 1 billion streams on Audiomark.

Perhaps, his crowning moment came on August 20, 2023 when he sold out O2 Arena in London marking a turning point on the global stage. However, his momentum never let off steam as he had a great showing at the Headies Awards winning “Album of the Year” and “8thNext Rated” which was held on September 4, 2023

As a further testament to his soaring fortunes, on September 8th he became the first African artist to sell out the Barclays Centre in New York as well as getting  a Silver certification by MMWTV in the UK after selling 60,000 units.

On September 17th, he won “Breakout Artist of the Year” at AFRIMMA. In early October, Asake got nominated at the 2023 MTV EMAs for the Best Afrobeats. In the same October, his hit single “Lonely at the Top” held the record of the longest charting No 1 song on the official Nigeria Top 100 after being on the No 1 spot for 12 weeks.

He ended the year on a biggest note, as he got a Grammy nomination in the “Best African Music Performance” as well as being featured on Rolling Stone’s 100 Best Album of the Year at Number 37.
