Akpabio leads presidential delegation to Namibia for late president Hage Geingob’s funeral

President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio is leading a presidential delegation to the state funeral of the late president of Nambia, Hage Geingob, on Saturday.

In a letter dated February 22, 2024, President Bola Tinubu appointed the senate president as special envoy and leader of the Nigerian delegation to the event billed to hold at Windhoek, Namibia’s capital.

Akpabio’s Special Adviser on Media, Eseme Eyiboh, made this known in a statement.

According to the programme of events, the memorial service and burial services for Geingob will be held at Independence Stadium on February 24 and Heroes’ Acre, Windhoek, on February 25.

Eyiboh said the trip was aimed at demonstrating Nigeria’s solidarity with Namibia’s government and its people.

It will also convey Nigeria’s leader’s condolences and revived assurances of sincere regards to the country.

Other members of the delegation are Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, Zephaniah Jisalo, and Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Ya’u Shehu Darazo.
