My mission on AI, chemical engineering for safer health – Nelson Evbarunegbe

Nelson Iyore Evbarunegbe, a distinguished researcher at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, is making waves in the realm of health sciences with his groundbreaking discoveries.

Currently pursuing his Doctorate, Nelson’s expertise spans the intersection of artificial intelligence algorithms and chemical engineering, with a keen focus on addressing health safety concerns.

With a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Nelson has delved into utilizing deep learning techniques to develop precise computer representations of chemicals, facilitating advanced machine learning applications.

His forthcoming Master’s in Computer Science complements his academic journey towards a Ph.D. Nelson’s academic journey commenced with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Benin, where he graduated with First Class honors.

Passionate about mitigating the health risks posed by microparticles from chemicals and micro-organisms, Nelson is committed to leveraging advanced computational methodologies to propel advancements in health safety worldwide.

His prolific research portfolio includes numerous publications showcasing his adeptness in applying computer science to chemical engineering conundrums, particularly in the energy and food industries.

Recent endeavors by Nelson have targeted toxic chemicals prevalent in polymer coating formulations used in food packaging.

Additionally, he has collaborated on projects exploring innovative drug screening techniques using cheminformatics methodologies at Cadence Design Systems, Santa Fe, USA.

Currently, Nelson’s research endeavors encompass unraveling the complexities of cell membranes in harmful pathogens, a critical endeavor in combating threats to human health.

By applying his expertise in cheminformatics, Nelson aims to enhance drug permeation through cell membranes, ultimately leading to the demise of these pathogens.
