Currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA, Ogbonna’s relentless commitment to unraveling how obesity affects the effectiveness of treatment in cancer has propelled him to the forefront of scientific innovation.
His ongoing investigations into IL-1b-driven immunosuppression in obesity related renal cancer will change conventional ideas in cancer research, offering new insights into antitumor resistance. Ogbonna’s research journey, spanning from the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Nigeria (MOUAU) to the University of Bath, U.K., and now the University of Alabama at Birmingham, highlights his solid experience in research.

Henry Ogbonna’s research on advancing obesity and cancer research is focused on how obesity reduces the effectiveness of therapies used in managing renal cancer. His studies is seeking to identify better immunotherapies for people with obesity and renal cancer cases.
