In a bid to create an environment for creativity and recreation, the Delta State government in collaboration with the Contemporary Design Associates’ engineering expertise has transformed a sloppy and waterlogged lowland into a remarkable park that offers a wide range of attractions for all ages.

The conceptualization of the recreation center now known as Maryam Babangida Leisure Park and Film Village like most projects in Nigeria did not escape the phalanges of a suitable location.

However, the commitment to deliver an exceptional project that will enrich the lives of individuals and communities in Delta State by the government and the ingenuity of Contemporary Design Associates led to the actualization of a park that now attracts visitors from all walks of life.

This has bridged the gap of lack of standard recreation parks in southern Nigeria with features like an artificial lake, a zoo, basketball and volleyball courts, outdoor rides, a sky tower, a skateboarding arena, indoor games, a kiddies playground, seating areas for families, a go-kart track, and a film village with budget-friendly guest houses. The design of the park reflects a commitment to sustainability, with the use of green spaces and eco-friendly features.

The Maryam Babangida leisure park and film village.since it’s opening less than 7 months ago the Park’s popularity has skyrocketed, attracting over 250,000 visitors.it has become a one-stop destination for visitors across the region, especially during festive periods

The integration of sustainable practices, such as the use of solar energy and water conservation measures, as well as a natural/biological sewage treatment system conversion to biogas, aligns with the growing global awareness of environmental responsibility. By incorporating these elements, the park not only provides a recreational space but also serves as a model for sustainable and eco-friendly development.
