AKURE – BARELY 24 hours after Senator Ajayi Boroffice dumped the ruling Labour Party, LP, in Ondo State for the opposition Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, the state House of Assembly yesterday called on the Senate President, Senator David Mark to immediately declare his seat vacant.

The lawmakers equally passed a unanimous resolution that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, should immediately swing into action to conduct a bye-election into the vacant seat.

The Majority Leader, Mr. Dayo Akinsoyinu moved the motion and it was seconded by Mr. Fola Olasehinde (Ose Constituency) at its sitting yesterday.

They frowned at the attitude of Borrofice and described his defection to ACN as unbecoming of a true democrat and flagrant disobedience to Sections 109 and 68 of the 1999 Constitution.
