GOVERNOR Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has said the fundamentals of the state’s development are strong and resilient in spite of the hazy economic horizon in the country.

Eno, who made the assertion, yesterday, in his New Year state-wide broadcast, stressed that what his administration has been able to achieve in seven months in office gives them hope on what lies ahead in the New Year.

He reeled out the achievements so far to include the release of over N10 billion for the completion of ongoing projects initiated by immediate past administration and payment of N12 billion in gratuities to state and local government retirees.

His words: “We are hopeful and confident that it is going to be a year of restoration, increase and expansion across the lengths and crannies of this State, so help us God.

“Today, seven months after our inauguration, I make bold to say that in spite of the hazy economic horizon, the fundamentals of our development are strong and resilient. Although we still have many miles to go, what we have collectively achieved gives us hope for what we can and must achieve tomorrow and beyond.

“Seven months down the line, every critical pillar of this well-defined and well-thought out economic blueprint has been touched and activated for the growth and continuous development of our state.”
