IKEJA – Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, has said the state of the nation calls for prayer, sober reflection and rededication of all and sundry.

Ikuforiji, who spoke during an interactive session with newsmen at his Ikeja GRA Lodge, noted that ”no one can say that the nation is in a state he or she wants it to be. The nation is not enjoying the deserved peace of mind.

He said: “I want a nation where I can wake up at 2 a.m. and say I want to go to Abuja by road and call on my driver and none of us will nurse any fear. I desire a nation where I can wake up in the middle of the night, tell my people that I am going to Maiduguri and pick up my car and drive down to the airport without the fear that somebody will attack me on the road.

“We only can continue to pray that God Almighty should direct our leaders aright, because a situation where the largest percentage of the President’s budget goes into security shows that there is serious need for us to pray for our country Nigeria.”

He was also of the opinion that “despite all odds, God still loves Nigeria. In the Bible, it was stated that God loves the children of Israel the most. But I believe that God loves us more than the Israelites. I think we should continue to work and pray and hope that one day, things will get better.”
