An 84 year-old man was recently crushed to death by a fast moving vehicle in Oshodi area of Lagos, while at the verge of crossing the road . Other commuters waiting to board buses to their different destinations reportedly sustained varying degrees of injuries .
Eye witnesses said a mass transit bus which apparently had a break failure suddenly veered off its lane and ran into the commuters .
Efforts to save the old man failed as he reportedly gave up the ghost after muttering his name. He gave his name simply as Adewale but was unable to tell the concerned sympathizers where he lived before yielding the ghost.
No telephone according to eye witness was found on him. The only item with him was a polythene bag in which were a cap and some old news papers.
Meanwhile, A building located in Ebutte-Metta area of Lagos recently went up in flames , roasting an occupant to death. The fire which also destroyed property which monetary value could not be intermediately ascertained , occurred at the early hours of Monday.
Although the cause of the inferno could not be immediately ascertained, report said it started from one of the apartments while the occupants were asleep.
Efforts by the occupants who were jolted from sleep to salvage some of their properties failed as they only managed to scamper for safety.
But unfortunately for a man simply identified as Mr Nnamani, he could not escape as others , as report said he was chocked by smoke in an attempt to escape and thereafter roasted in the fire. His charred remains was later removed by members of his family.
