BENIN— NATIONAL Secretary of the Accord Party, Dr. Samson Isibor, has been sentenced to nine months imprisonment by a Benin Chief Magistrate’s Court, Edo State, in two separate cases of assault, conspiracy and stealing.
Trial Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Mefo Adebanjo, sentenced Isibor to three months imprisonment for assaulting one David Eboye and was given an option of N20, 000 fine.
In the eight-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, Isibor was sentenced to six months imprisonment in counts 1, 4, 5 and 7 by the trial Chief Magistrate. The sentences are to run concurrently.
He was acquitted in count 2, 3, 6 and 8, but was given an option of fine of N50, 000 in the counts on which he was convicted.
Reacting to his conviction from Abuja, where he was attending his party’s NEC meeting Isibor blamed his problem on Governor Adams Oshiomhole, alleging that his conviction was as a result of his refusal to support the governor’s administration.
