Former Falconet Coach, Emmanuel Teteh Okonkwo has said that the riot act read by the Nigerian Football Federation to players of the Flamingoes preparing for the African Women U’17 Championship qualifiers was wrong.

The former Niger Dock FC head coach said it was supposed to be read to the coaches and not players.

He urged the board of the NFF to place a law on age cheat which will cause coaches’ licences to be withdrawn for life if found with over aged players.

He stressed that the law will make coaches work very hard to discover players and groom them into world class stars.

“Nigeria is always interesting with her ways of handling issues. We are known for misplacement of priorities. The NFF is not supposed to read riot act to the players, they should have read it to the coaches and follow it up with proper investigation. They can’t deny not having the records of these players.

Also, to make their effort achievable, all they should do is to make a law that any coach found with over aged players in his/her team will lose his/her licence for life. This will make coaches to be strict and serious and will put an end to the plague of age cheats in our football,” Coach Okonkwo said.
