The chairman of Agbado/ Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State, Dr. Augustine Adeoye Arogundade, wants  the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)  to pay urgent attention to exposed pipelines in some  locations in the area to avoid fire from explosions and  severe environmental challenges.

Speaking through his press secretary, Remi Aderibigbe, the council boss noted  that it became necessary that  the NNPC  sends its engineers to  carry out  repairs in the affected  locations due to climatic conditions.

He said the  pipelines  encourage vandals and constitute environmental nuisance which may lead to  disaster if urgent steps  are not  taken by the NNPC.

Arogundade cautioned road users, especially Okada riders and motorists plying the areas where the pipelines are located, particularly Aboru, to be more conscious since ignorance is no excuse.

The council chairman also advised officials of Lagos State  Ministry of  the Environment to  redouble their efforts on  sensitization on the consequence of trespassing in the pipeline locations in the communities.

The locations are Abule-Egba, Ile-Epo, Oke-Odo, Aboru, Igoke and Ekoro Olota.
