Ogun gov hails Dangote’s investments

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has lauded the President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote for his investments in the State.

Governor Amosu, gave the commendation after he has toured Dangote Cement plant’s six million metric tons per annum capacity, at Ibese, near Ilaro in Ogun state.

Amosun, who said he was amazed at the gigantic nature of the new cement plant expressed optimism that the investment would help develop the economy of the state and contribute to the execution of his administration’s agenda of job creation.

He said his administration is ready to play its own part by providing the necessary security of investments and infrastructures needed to keep the manufacturing companies functioning to the maximum capacity.

He however, urged Dangote to ensure that the management of the new cement plant should ensure indigenes of Ibese and other host communities are given employment up to the management level.

According to Dangote, with the new Ibese plant, the Dangote cement has become the largest producer of cement in the country and that the journey to self-sufficiency was almost completed with the Dangote Benue and Obajana cement plants already in full productions.

He further noted that the national consumption hovered around 18 million tons per annum and that by the first quarter of next year, all the cement companies in the country would have been producing up to 20 tons per annum with the Dangote cement accounting for over 70 per cent of it.

He appealed to the state government to help in the provision of security for the investments saying though the host community of Ibese and others have been very cooperative, government should help in putting in place security arrangements for the business to thrive.

On the Corporate Social Responsibility of the group, Alhji Dangote stated that his company always take over the provision of infrastructure for the communities promising that Ibese would not be an exception.

Also speaking, the Chairman, Forum of the 14 Host Communities, Dr. Hezy Idowu, said: “We the host communities have resolved to work towards providing a friendly atmosphere for the plant to operate as its operation will transform the economic well being of the communities and their inhabitants. We are fully determined to cooperate fully with Dangote cement so as to solidify and consolidate this very enviable and priceless success.”
