Police can handle threat by Boko Haram – Senator

BY PETER OKUTU

ABAKALIKI – SENATE Committee Chairman on Police Affairs, Senator Paulinus Igwe-Nwagu, yesterday debunked claims in some quarters that the Nigeria Police lacked the capacity to bring to an end the menace of insecurity caused by the Boko Haram in the country.

The senator, who described the group as amorphous with no definite agenda and leadership stratification, stated that was the reason the activities of the sect appeared intractable by some security agencies.

Igwe-Nwagu expressed the hope that with the on-going police reforms by the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Police Affairs, the challenge of Boko Haram would soon be contained effectively.
