President Bola Tinubu has been lauded for his timely response to appeal to intervene in the political crisis in Rivers state between governor Siminalaye Fubara and his political godfather, the Hon Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Chief Nyesom Wike.

Arewa leader in the south Alhaji Musa Saidu who was among prominent Nigerians who urged President Tinubu to step in to resolve the crisis said he was impressed with the timeous action of the President, describing him as a listening leader.

Saidu said the action of the President was an indication of his desire for peace in the Niger Delta region, adding he commended the National Security Adviser, NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu for working with the President to ensure that the crisis was resolved timely.

“In two days President Bola Tinubu has solved the crisis in Rivers state. He cares about the Niger Delta. If there is no peace in Rivers it will extend to other parts of Niger Delta. We thank him for the good job he is doing.

“I also thank the NSA, Mallam  Ribadu for responding to the appeal to intervene in the crisis in Rivers and he did. The NSA has listened to our advice to relate with Mr President for peace in Rivers. “

He further called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun to investigate the role of the Rivers State Commissioner of Police during the crisis, adding that if it was established that he took side he should be transferred out of the state.

“The governor alleged that the police shot directly at him. This is enough to investigate the Commissioner of Police in the state and if he was biased he should be transferred immediately”.

Saidu said the lawmakers who wanted to impeach the governor should halt the move, stressing that the governor has not done anything to warrant impeachment.

“Those that said they want to impeach the governor of Rivers should retrace their steps because they have no convincing reasons for this. They should not overheat the body politic. We heard the governor has blocked leakages in the very good system “.

While also calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances around the death of the late Divisional Police officer of Ahoada, SP Bako Angbashim Saidu advised President Buhari and the NSA to flush out bad eggs in the security agencies to be able to win the war against oil theft.

On the offcycle elections billed for Bayelsa, Kogi and Imo state the Arewa leader said the federal government should ensure adequate security for voters, adding that security operatives should not be used to intimidate voters during the exercise.

“The NSA  should look at the security situation in the Northeast, Maiduguri and other parts of the North to advise Mr President “.
