Gender not an issue for Falcons coach appointment – Green, Chukwu

By KATE OBODO
Nigeria Football Federation technical committee member, Christian Chukwu believes that the federation will not take into account the gender of the coach that will be appointed for the women national team.

Chukwu, a former coach of the Eagles stated that the issue of who will take over from Eucharia Uche would have been laid to rest, but NFF’s bid to have the Under-23 team qualify for the Olympics caused the delay.

According to Chukwu, “The NFF board are working hard for a good coach for Falcons job. With series of disappointments in our national team, they are very careful, in their search to get a good and experienced coach who will build a formidable team for Nigeria.

“The gender of the coach does not matter. The NFF needs a coach who is tactically and technically sound in the job.

NFF technical committee chairman, Chris Green gave credence to Chukwu’s declaration: “The NFF is really working towards hiring a good coach, and it is not going to be based on gender. We are going to bring on board anyone who is capable and competent,” Green said.
