Yakubu Aiyegbeni is sure to make a comeback to the national team, if he continues with his fine run of form, which have seen him bang in nine goals, from nine matches in the Premier League this season.
Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi stated that he is prepared to hand the Blackburn striker a call up to the national team.
Yakubu was the main culprit in the Eagles failure to impress at the 2010 World Cup. He missed a clear chance to score and since July 2010 he never earned a call to the national team. But Keshi reaffirmed that Yakubu will be considered after he scored four goals against Swansea City last weekend
“I will pick Yak on form to play for Nigeria if he keeps scoring in the English League.
“I want to win matches and only the fittest in Europe and Nigeria can deliver results for me,” Keshi said.
Keshi added that Yakubu’s career was picking up after a bad “a bad period”
“I’m happy for Yakubu because he has always shown that he is a good striker. And to score four goals in a match is a performance that does not happen always for a striker or any player.
“But this present form of Yakubu is very good for him and will help in building his confidence for other games. He has had a bad period in his career lately especially after the poor performance of our team at the World Cup last year in South Africa. But I’m happy he has picked up himself and is doing well now.”
