Bells varsity excels at ICT competition

BELLS University has excelled in the third edition of the annual Information and Communication Development Programme, ICDP, which took place at Redeemer’s University, Redemption City Mowe in Ogun State.

The two-day competition, organised by the Nigeria Computer Society, Ogun State Chapter was tagged “ICT Strategies for National Development.”

Bells University came first in the IT quiz and software development and third in the IT Debate. The students who participated from the university included Osamiluyi A. (500 Level); Akinmukomi O. T ( 400 Level); Fabola Adeola (500 Level); and Alagba J. P( 300 Level). The team was coached by Engr. Akinboro S. A. of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology.

Receiving the report on the competition in his office, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Isaac Adeyemi, praised the students and also Engr. Akinboro for doing the institution proud.

He noted that the young university was gradually becoming a force to reckon with amongst the tertiary institutions in the country as it had continued to garner laurels in similar competitions at the national level.

It would be recalled that the University came third in 2008, second in 2009 and first in 2010 and 2011 respectively at the Annual Computer Programming Competition organised by the National Mathematical Centre, Abuja.

The institution also emerged the best for the Institutional Researchers Award of the University of Lagos Researchers’ Fair in January 2009.

The 3rd edition featured the three events, namely: IT Debate, IT Quiz and IT Software Development. The participating institution included: Crowford University, Igbesa; Crescent University Abeokuta; University of Agriculture Abeokuta (UNAB); Babcock University, Ilisan, Redeemers University, Mowe and Bells University of Technology, Ota.
