Igboagu wins Owerri Golf tourney

Golf players from some golf clubs across the country have ended a three-day tournament at the Arsenal Golf and Country Club, 34 Field Artillery Brigade, Obinze, Owerri.

The golf tournament, which was sponsored by Nigerian Breweries Plc, attracted golfers from Oguta, Aba, Enugu, Port Harcourt among many others.

Speaking at the closing event, the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Aaron Danpome, said the Arsenal Golf Course was built to promote good army/civilian relationship and commended Nigerian Breweries for organizing the championship.

In his address, the Managing Director of Nigerian Breweries, Mr. Nicholas Vervelde, said the Company sponsored the tournament as a way of giving back to its customers, as well as in furtherance of its commitment to sports development in Nigeria.

At the end of the tournament, Mr. abuchi Igboagu of Dragon Golf Club, Enugu, emerged as the overall winner and went home with a medium sized refrigerator.

Other golfers who won prizes in the various categories were C. J. Frank, J. Okpara, Cliff Orjiako, Samuel Anoruo, Ndubuisi Obikwere from Oguta Golf Course, Samuel Waria and Jackson Ofem from Port Harcourt Golf Club, Chief Ignatius Okeahialam, Nnamdi Chima, E. Onumajuru from Aba Golf Club.
