ALL seem set for today’s crunchy guber poll as Chairman of the Independent Hational Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega lead a team of his officers to conduct the election that would usher in a new Governor for Kogi State.
According to INEC and security agencies all necessary arrangements have been concluded.
The INEC top hierachy led its Chairman Professor Attahiru Jega are already in the state,while Officers and men of the Police force in their thousands were seen either patrolling the town or getting set for posting to local government areas for the election duty.
Sensitive materials were distributed and promptly conveyed to their various destinations while Electoral Officials, political party agents as well as security agents studied and monitored the movement of materials
Meanwhile residents of Lokoja, who registered for election in their native homes, have been trooping out of the state capital to go and exercise their civic responsibilities and eligible voters who might have travelled returned home.
However, political activities which was seen to be tense has subsided as the
contenders have gone back to the drawing board to re-strategise for today’s battle that may simply be a direct fight between the ruking party the PDP and the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN. In a chat earlier with the Media Aide of Prince Abubakar Audu, Mr Sani Onogu, AC N is hopeful that Jega and his men will live up to their reputation in conducting a transparent and credible election today.
