Fayemi promises new LGs

BY GBENGA ARIYIBI
ADO-EKITI—Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has promised to address the issue of creation of additional local governments in the state before the expiration of his tenure, saying it is not the business of federal government to determine the numbers of local governments in the state.

Specifically, Fayemi pledged to split Ikole Local Government into two, saying it is the biggest local government in the state.

He, however promised to follow due process in actualising his commitment by working in tandem with both the state and National Assembly.

The governor gave the assurance Wednesday during a village square meeting held with the people of Ikole Local Government Area to get their inputs into the 2012 Budget and the projects they want the government to execute for them in the new fiscal year.
