Lagos – The Lagos State Branch of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) on Thursday unveiled the 2011 SWAN Cup logo, ahead of its annual week.

The week has been, scheduled to hold between Dec. 12 and Dec. 17 at the National Stadium, Lagos.

Fred Edoreh SWAN Chairman in an address said the idea was to provide opportunity to sports journalists in Lagos to interact outside the newsroom.

He said the tournament was not really about winning but the coming together of sports journalists from various media houses to socialise.

“It’s a forum to know ourselves better, do some exercises and promote healthy living through sports,’’ he said.

The chairman said he would be expecting entries from no fewer than 28 media houses to participate in the event.

He also said the association would use the opportunity provided by the competition to formally inaugurate its newly-built secretariat, located inside the National Stadium complex.

SWAN Secretariat building is now at its finishing stage.

Meanwhile, the association has constituted a seven-man committee to organise the event.   (NAN)
