FORMER Vice President of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission, TREM, Bishop Mike Okonkwo, has renewed the agitation for a sovereign national conference, SNC, to resolve the multi-faceted socio-economic cum ethno-religious crises in the country.

He spoke at the opening ceremony of this year’s Kingdom Life World Conference at TREM’s international headquarters of his church in Anthony Village, Lagos.

Bishop Okonkwo faulted the Federal Government’s decision to remove fuel subsidy which has generated so much heat in the polity, arguing that government should have consulted with all stakeholders before taking such a sensitive decision.

He said: “Except we plug into the grace of God today, I do not think there is any hope for any one in this country. From current happenings around us, you will agree with me that men’s hearts are failing them.

“People are feeling insecure. They are wonde-ring which way to go?”
