ABA- FOLLOWING public outcry over the deplorable state of roads in Abia State, especially in Aba, Governor Theodore Orji has released N2.5billion to contractors for the rehabilitation of various roads in the state.

Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Mr. Ugochukwu Emezue, who disclosed this yesterday in Umuahia, explained that the release of the fund was in fulfilment of the state governor’s promise to turn around the infrastructural decay in the state, especially as it affected the deplorable state of roads in Aba.

He said the contractors had been mobilized to ensure that the roads were completed in time within this dry season, warning that any contractor that defaulted would have his contract revoked.

He directed the state commissioner for works to monitor the contractors and ensure strict compliance that the roads are rehabilitated according to specification and delivered on time.

The governor stated that the rehabilitation of roads within the state is essential as it will enhance development and facilitate the movement of people and goods.
