After playing two International Friendly matches against Botsw-ana and Zambia as part of the rebuilding process for the Super Eagles, Acting General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Musa Amadu and chairman of its technical committee, Barrister Christopher Green have said the team is on the verge of revival.

Expressing delight over the outcome of the two matches, the duo told Sunday Vanguard Sports that the team did very well in the games, and are therefore confident that with more friendly games, the team will surmount its present poor state.

“I want to say that we have a team in the making. The matches played were all good but I do not think the results are what matter for now. The overall objective is to be able to rebuild a solid team after our inability to qualify for the 2012 Nations Cup. With the look of things, the boys pressed hard to see that they put their ouster from the Nations Cup behind and work hard to qualify for the 2013 African Cup of Nations and the 2014 World Cup. I would not say the two matches are tests for him, even if they are tests, he has passed with flying colours.

He reaffirmed, “I will still maintain that it is not the results that is important but the way the team have been able to play and blend. I know scoring and getting results is part of it, but the main objective of coach Keshi is to take Nigeria’s football to the highest level and I am sure he will start with the African continent, take Nigeria to the 2013 Nations Cup and then we will take it from there .

And I am sure these targets are achievable,” Amadu said. Barrister Green on his part said, “I am very satisfied with the two matches, especially given some players the opportunities to showcase their talent which is good and at the end of the day one can beat his chest that we have a team in the making. The truth of the matter is that there are no minnows in football again, but I tell you, in no time we will have a formidable team for the country as we will continue to expose them with friendly games.

It is only by playing matches you will be able to form your team and that is what we are trying to do,” he concluded.
