BAUCHI— Officials of the Bauchi State Government have been accused of diverting vehicles donated by the Canadian government to Ningi Community for health care projects, to personal use.
Meanwhile, the Ningi community has petitioned Bauchi State Police Commissioner, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba and the state government over the issue.
Aduba, who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Bauchi, yesterday, said: “It is true that we have received the petition from the community and we have commenced investigations over the matter.”
’’We have gone far in our investigations and have recovered the vehicles, but we did not even go far with our investigations, when the state Attorney General informed us that they have received similar petition and were also investigating the matter.
’’We want them to complete their investigation first and get back to us.”
Aduba then appealed to journalists to always ensure that they crosscheck the details of the investigation from the office of the state Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General before publishing any allegation.
Efforts to contact the state Commissioner of Justice failed, as he was not in the office, but a senior staff in his ministry said the incident took place in the Ministry of Health adding that those involved would be referred to the police for prosecution.
