Lagos – A mechanic, Paul Igbo, who was alleged to have swindled his customer of a Mercedes Benz car, was on Wednesday charged before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

Igbo, 39, is standing trial on a two-count charge of fraud and stealing.

The Prosecutor, ASP. Julius Oyakhilome, told the court that the accused obtained a C-Class Mercedes Benz with registration number DM 776 EKY, from his customer, one Dr Amanze Obi, with the pretext he would sell it and remit the proceeds to him.

Oyakhilome said that after selling the car valued at N1.5 million, Igbo refused to remit the money to Obi.

He said that the offence was committed sometime in September 2010 at Otabo Kirikiri, Apapa in Lagos.

According to him, the offence contravenes Sections 390 (9) of 516 the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate A. F. O. Botoku granted him bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till Dec. 7, for further hearing. (NAN)
