ACN chieftain backs 6-year tenure for President, govs

BY ENYIM ENYIM
A chieftain of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Anambra State, Prince Chuma Ojukwu, yesterday called on the National Assembly to endorse the six-year single tenure for president and governors as proposed by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Speaking with Vanguard, Ojukwu reasoned that the proposed six years single tenure would accelerate development and encourage elected political office holders to ensure that democracy dividends were given to the people at the grassroots.

Besides, he said the proposed tenure would give room for the electorate not to only assess the performance of any elected office holder but also to withdraw their mandate if the person failed to perform.
