Amokachi and Ikpeba for awards

Former Super Eagles’ players, Daniel Amokachi and Victor Ikpeba will be part of the Sports Brands Nigeria Awards billed to hold on December 14 at the Sheraton Hotel in Lagos.

Also former Enyimba forward and Ghanaian international, Joetex Frimpong will be part of the event, revealed the CEO of Sports Brands Nigeria Awards, Ojeikere Aikhoje.

“Former Nigerian internationals, Victor Ikpeba, a former African Footballer of the Year and Daniel Amokachi as well as former Ghanaian international and Enyimba forward, Joetex Frimpong, have also accepted to be part of the Sports Brands Nigeria Awards team,” Aikhoje said.

He also explained reasons for organising an award for brands involved in the sports industry.

“I’ve been privileged to work on some of the biggest Sports Brands on the agency side since 2003 and have realised that these brands are hardly appreciated for their contributions to Nigeria’s sports industry.

“You’ll agree with me that some brands have actually withdrawn from the sports sector due to this situation.

“However, the need to identify and reward excellence in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving sports industry sector is the raison d’être for the Sports Brands Nigeria Awards.

“This is the first time that outstanding performance across Nigeria’s Sports Sector will be recognised and the Sports Brands deserve to be honoured” he said.

Seventeen award categories will be up for grabs at the event while five outstanding Nigerians will be inducted into the Sports Brands Nigeria Award Hall of Fame.

Sports Brands Nigeria Awards started in 2009 and is considered as the leading network and resource for brands in the business of sports in Nigeria.
