Kwara United Coach,Tunde Sani has stated that his lads were unlucky in their 1-1 draw against visiting Gombe United at the Ilorin Township Stadium midweek.

Speaking to Inside Out Premier League at the stadium after the match, the former Shooting Stars winger expressed delight over his wards’ performance despite the score draw.

“I want to believe that it was hard luck and not lack of motivation that affected us in the game because we were promised our bonus the next day (Thursday) if we had won the game. We actually worked very hard for the game but I can’t tell what went wrong on the field of play. Even the penalty we scored, we almost missed it too.

“The only good thing is that we played well as a team. The game was not played when the league was in its prime, may be the story would have been different now. Well, I am already looking ahead to next season when I will fine tune the team,” Coach Sani said.

On the teams’ next game against Rangers in Enugu, the former Kwara United captain said, “It would be a normal game as compared to this because we have played teams that are better placed on the log than them, so I believe that we will come out tops at the end of the final whistle,” coach Sani added.

Sharks target third place finish

Sharks Football Club of Port Harcourt last Tuesday further confirmed the relegation problem of Crown FC when they defeated the Ogbomosho side by 3-1 in Week 36 of the Nigeria Premier League, at the Ilorin Township Stadium.

The team’s media officer, Confidence Idaa, disclosed in a chat with Inside Out Premier League that “we want to be consistent in the remaining two matches as we strive to to end the 2010/2011 campaign on 65 points. We are also looking further to playing in the WAFU Cup next year.

He continued “We have also appealed to our fans to be consistent in their support so as to achieve our goals. We are also targeting third or fourth position at the end,” Idaa said.

The defeat further compounded the woes of Crown FC who hve suffered different crises ranging from changes in technical crew, unpaid salaries and match bonuses and twice victims of a ghastly motor accident.
