WARRI-OIL producing communities in Delta State have called on President Goodluck Jonathan to intervene in the feud between the Governing Council and management of Federal University of Petroleum Resources, FUPRE, Effurun, Warri, Delta State.

Oil Mineral Producing Communities, OMPSTAFOR, in a letter by its national coordi-nator, Prince Okareme Maikpobi, to the President, said: “On September 15, 2011 the oil producing communities of Delta State, who are the major stakeholders requested, through the Minister of Education, for the dissolution/reconsti-tution of the Governing Council of FUPRE because of its inefficiency.

“Fortunately, the council was dissolved with other Boards on October 19, 2011.

“However, some members of the Governing Council still met in a private hotel partly owned by Acting Registrar outside the University Council chamber on October 20, despite the dissolution of the council. At that illegal meeting, some negative decisions were taken.”
