Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, of making plans to cause mayhem during the next sitting of the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in the state.

The PDP in a statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary, Chief Blyden Amajirionwu, alleged that the planned violence was aimed at creating “disaffection between our party, the public and particularly the judges hearing the case.”

Meanwhile, Senator Arthur Nzeribe has said it would be the turn of Owerri Senatorial zone to produce the governor of the state in 2015.

The PDP stalwart, noting alleged plans for mayhem by sympathizers of APGA, in a the statement, said:

“We received reports from highly reliable sources that APGA government in Imo State has concluded plans to unleash thugs who will be dressed in PDP colours on November 7, 2011, with a view to causing mayhem and confusion during the sitting of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal that day.”

Dissociating the PDP from any plans for mayhem, the PDP spokesman said “Imo PDP therefore, wishes to use this forum to alert the good people of Imo State of this plot to put our beloved state to such ridicule.”
