Calabar— Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State has commended the National Boundary Commission, NBC, for providing fishing materials and food stuff to the displaced people of Bakassi Peninsula.
Governor Imoke made the commendation in Calabar while acknowledging the relief materials transported to Nigerians in Bakassi.
Director-General, NBC, who was represented by the Desk Officer, Trans-border Cooperation, Farouk Tarfa, said several plausible measures had been lined up for Nigerians living in Bakassi.
He said that one of such measures was to provide them with relief materials. He expressed happiness that Nigerians in the ceded territory were law-abiding and engaged in legitimate business.
Imoke, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Prof. Zana Akpagu, said the gesture was commendable as it would concretise the resolve of the Federal Government to give Nigerians a sense of belonging and confidence.
Imoke enjoined Nigerians to live in accordance with the laws of the land in line with the Green Tree Agreement.
