Akure – The police in Akure have uncovered the hideout of a gang of kidnappers operating in Akure and its environs.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Adeniran Aremu, told newsmen that the police discovered the hideout at Alagbaka Estate.
The hideout is a three-bedroom bungalow behind an uncompleted one-storey building on Akin Akingbola Street, Alagbaka.
The hideout is also only one kilometre away from the State Police Command and very close to a Federal High Court and a school.
The building was, however, devoid of any furniture safe for a rug in one of the rooms, blue rope used to tie their victims, empty packets of cigarettes, gas lighters as well as one candle stick.
The gang members, the police spokesman said, often gained access to the building for their criminal activities through a broken window
But one of the suspected kidnappers told journalists that they rented the building for N150,000 a year.
The suspect said they used to keep anybody they kidnapped in the house until ransom was paid. (NAN)
