…As zoning tops discussions

The high brow Asokoro, Abuja, the residence of the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was a beehive of activities, yesterday, as top leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, those aspiring for the leadership of the 10th National Assembly and others lobbying for ministerial and other appointments trooped in.

The APC is yet to come up with a template for zoning of offices especially in the National Assembly. A party source told Vanguard yesterday that a decision on the matter had not been taken contrary to reports that the Senate Presidency had been zoned to the South-South while the House of Representatives Speaker had been ceded to North-West.

Tinubu returned to Nigeria, on Monday, after a 32-day three-country tour to rest, embark on International engagements and then observe the lesser Hajj. He was in Paris, London and Saudi Arabia.

National Chairman of the ruling APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and other party leaders including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr.. Femi Gbajabiamila;

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji; Senator Godswill Akpabio and Senator Barau Jibrin were among those who stormed Tinubu’s house, yesterday.

The list also included Senator Olamilekan Adeola, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, Senator Tokunbo Abiru and Hon. James Faleke.

Adamu resumes at party secretariat

Adamu, who like Tinubu had been out of the country for about two weeks had resumed at the national secretariat of the party on Tuesday where he spent barely an hour before leaving for Tinubu’s house.

The chairman resumed a day to the expiration of the seven days ultimatum issued to him, last week, by the APC National Vice Chairman, North-West, Salihu Moh. Lukman, who threatened to drag him to court if he refuses to convene a meeting of the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the party.

While details of the visit were still sketchy on Tuesday night, Akpabio told reporters that his records will earn him the Senate Presidency.

The Adamu-led National Working Committee, NWC has not come up with a zoning template for National Assembly leadership positions, but with Tinubu’s arrival, party leaders are expected to sit with him and come up with a template.
