Edo state Commissioner for Youth and Sports,Hon Iziegbe Anita Evbuomwan, has expressed shock over the death of two female athletes of the state.
Hon Evbuomwan said that the death of Miss Osayomwanbor Arasomwan of Powerlifting, and Rosemary Umeh, football, was a very big blow as both athletes were very committed.
The Commissioner noted that they won laurels for the state,stressing that Osayomwanbor fetched a Gold medal at the just concluded Garden City Games 2011,and also represented Nigeria in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India. ‘She lived beyond her physical disability and hated to be pitied’.
’Rosemary completed her festival in football and switched to Rugby and her team won Gold for the state in Kaduna 2009′ Hon Evbuomwan noted.
While praying God to grant their families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, the Commissioner urged both families to find solace in the fact that the athletes lived examplary lives, adding that they would be greatly missed .
