Asaba – The Police in Asaba on Monday arraigned a 24-year-old woman, Sandra Okwugwuni, at an Asaba Magistrates’ Court charged with a breach of the peace.

The accused is facing two-count charge of damage and breach of peace in the court.

The Police Prosecutor, Mr David Okeh, told the court that the accused allegedly committed the offence on Sept. 5, at Akwuebulu Junction in Asaba.

Okeh also told the court that the accused, on the same day and place, allegedly refused to pay land rent to one Noah Udum who allocated a piece of land to her at the same address.

He said that the offence committed by the accused contravened section 249(D) of the Criminal Code C21 Vol. 1, Laws of Delta, 2006.

He further told the court that the accused, on the same day and place, allegedly damaged an iron bending machine valued at N20,000, property of the same Udum.

According to him, this offence is punishable under section 451 of the Criminal Code C21 Vol. 1, Laws of Delta, 2006.

The accused, who, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge, was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 and a surety in like sum by the Magistrate, Mrs Augustina Monye.

Monye also ordered that the surety should show proof of landed property within Asaba, provide two passport-sized photographs, and adjourned the case to Nov. 9, for hearing. (NAN)
