Board member of the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, Alhaji Shehu Adamu has hinted that former Super Eaglesskipper, Stephen Keshi stands a chance of becoming the next coach of the Eagles with an impending friendly against Botswana on November 12.

He disclosed this while speaking to Sunday Vanguard Sports from Abuja, adding that the next coach of the Eagles would be named on Wednesday after the technical sub-committee meets on Tuesday to deliberate on it before forwarding its recommendations to the Executive Committee.

“The technical committee would seat on Tuesday to recommend who is best for the job which will be brought to us (Executive Committee) to ratify on Wednesday. We do not know who the person is, he may black or white,”he said.

Pressed to say who he thinks would assume the position, he said, “If you look at the credential of the two of them (Keshi and Sunday Oliseh), one has an advantage over the other.

Oliseh and Keshi

Keshi stands a better chance than Oliseh because of his on-the-field experience as compared to Oliseh’s. He has been to the Nations Cup and also qualified Togo for the World Cup. On the other hand, Oliseh has a better qualification than him but has not tested the field as does Keshi. So, for me, Keshi has an upper hand than him in contention for the job,” he said.

Reiterating the Board’s decision to ease off Siasia, the sports administrator said the terms of the contract and the recommendation by the technical sub-committee defined their decision. “We had to obey the contractual agreement signed with him (Siasia) because if we do not, next time when we find ourselves in situations like this, it will be very difficult to stand by a contract. We had two documents to take decision from, one was the contract and the recommendation put forward by the technical sub-committee,” Alhaji Adamu added.
