One of Nigeria’s medal hopeful at the forthcoming World Weightlifting Championship billed for Paris, France, Felix Ekpo has declared his readiness to haul medals.
The 77kg senior lifter who spoke to Sunday Vanguard Sports from the teams’ training camp in Owerri, the Imo State capital, said he is injury free and is ready to do Nigeria proud.
He thanked the Weightlifting Federation and the National Sports Commission for providing them with one of the best preparation ahead of a major competition.
“I am very fit now and I am free from injuries of any kind which is the major challenge of any weightlifter. I am hoping to perform better as compared to the last Commonwealth and Africa Championships held in South Africa.
“For the past three months and even before the championship which we just attended, everything has been going on very well for us. I must confess that this has actually been our best preparation in recent years. Thanks to the Weightlifting federation and National Sports Commission,” Ekpo said.
