Coming at the instance of Premier FM Ibadan, the first FM station in the South West Zone of The Federal Radio Corporation, the award is part of activities lined up to mark the station’s 10th year anniversary which kicks off today.
According to the management of the broadcast station, Mimiko has been able to distinguish himself as a rare achiever with his exemplary leadership and trail blazing initiatives which have made Ondo a model in many areas of endeavours, hence, his choice for the award.
The investiture holds tomorrow, Monday, in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
Meanwhile the governor has been commended by the management of the Nigerian Tribune for his administration’s people-oriented programmes and policies.
Making the commendation after the tour of some projects in the state capital, Akure, Rev. Sam Adesua, managing director of the newspaper, who led the team, remarked that Mimiko is one of the few at the corridor of power practicalising, in real terms, the legacy of the departed undisputed leader of the South-West, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
The managing director explained that the Mimiko-led government has practically demonstrated the cardinal agenda of the late sage , in its educational policy, health care system, agriculture and urban renewal among others.
“Many people talk about Awolowo’s legacy today, but we have seen those praticalising it in real terms and one of them is Dr Mimiko”, Adesua stated, declaring that the Nigerian Tribune is ready to associate and partner with the Ondo government based on the fact that the government is pro-Awolowo in its programmes.
Mentioning the team’s finding to the governor after the tour, the MD said “the philosophy of Awolowo that you are practicing is clear; we have seen people today doing the opposite.”
Mimiko described the Tribune as a genuine mouthpiece of the downtrodden, adding that its survival was based on its fruitfulness and professionalism.
