Managing Director of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigerian (FAAN), Mr. George Uriesi yesterday affirmed that the Federal Government was set to upgrade most of the airports across the country with the sum of N19 billion.

Speaking during a chat with newsmen at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Lagos, Mr. Uriesi pointed out that the N19 billion was different from the N90billion proposed by the Former Minister of Aviation Mrs. Fidelia Njeze for the remodelling of the airports.

According to him, “The Njeze’s remodelling of N90billion, the strategy has changed. That remodelling was meant to build new terminals in a few airports but it takes a longer time. If you are very fast 24months, if you are very fast to build a new terminal in most cases anything between 36 to 40 or 42 months more like”

He however noted that most of the airports does not have the time to wait for two to three years before new terminals buildings would be built stressing that the strategy now was to do some renovations and major repairs and remodelling at most of the airports.
