Bauchi-Bauchi State Government has signed a N7.9billion contract with the Triacta Construction Company, TCC, for the construction of an ultra-modern airport in the state.

The Commissioner for Special Duties, Alhaji Bappah Azare, signed the Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, on behalf of the government, at the Government House, Tuesday, after the State Executive Council, SEC, meeting, saying that when completed, the airport would attract investors to the state and improve the economic development, not only in the state, but in the Northeast zone.

Governor Isa Yuguda had earlier said that TCC was approved out of the 15 companies that applied for the job, adding that it would be completed in 28 months.

Yuguda also said that the project was among some of his campaign promises to the people, even as he added that the government had already compensated the owners of the land where the project was cited.

According to the Governor, investors coming into Bauchi State will no longer need to take flights from neighbouring states, thus further ensuring their security while in the state.

In his own comments, the Executive Director of TCC, Alie Abu assured of the timely completion of the project, which he also said would meet international standards.

Abu who said that the TCC had been partnering with Bauchi State in project execution, promised to ensure that the Bauchi Airport was better than the near-by Gombe International Airport, even as he assured that the host communities would be provided with modern amenities like good roads and water, among others.

He then appealed to the State Government to ensure close supervision and evaluation of the project, so as to prevent to mistakes that could delay the project.
