A group in River State, Obidient/Simplified Movement, has declared its support for the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Amaopusenibo Siminalayi Fubara, in the state for the next Saturday’s elections.

Rising from a meeting held in Port Harcourt, the state capital, Wednesday, the group coordinator, Mr. Ken Agala, alongside other executive members, Levi Orji, Bright Neneh, and Agamaye Rowland, told journalists that they started off as a an advocacy group that evaluates support for the most credible candidates.

According to him, “In Nigeria, we stand by Mr. Peter Obi and we encourage him to fight and reclaim his mandate through the courts, but in Rivers State, we have evaluated all the candidates and have settled for Sim Fubara to succeed Governor Nyesom Wike.

“We find similar traits of character, capacity, and commitment to do a good job in both leaders. Both are humble, brilliant and have finance backgrounds which show their capacity to manage scarce resources for the benefit of all, which is the primary duty of government.”

Agala noted that members of the group are independent-minded, free of political affiliations, and are professionals in their various fields.

He reiterated that Fubara has served the state meritoriously in the state civil service and has remained free from political baggage, thus he is accepted by almost all lovers of good governance in the state.

Commenting further, the group coordinator urged all lovers of good governance in the state to support the PDP candidate as someone who would sustain the infrastructural leapfrog that Wike has taken the state on.

He said: “If you come to Port Harcourt today, even if you don’t like Wike, you can’t help but appreciate the giant strides he has taken the state to in terms of infrastructure. From the massive road network to the huge investments in education and the medical sector, it’s not surprising that the APC-led government awarded him a pillar in infrastructure. We have sat down with SIM Fubara and were amazed at the plans he has not only to sustain the works of Governor Wike, but also to leapfrog the state into greater heights.”
